BLACK RAIN
( August 6th & 9th - 1945 )
Drooping heavily on a city of pain
black rain fell from ugly angry skies
Those still alive in this deadly horror
tried in vain, to heal their parched mouths
Young children with scorching burns
moved silently in search of parents
Thousands were vaporised instantly
leaving ghostly shadows on bare stone
A slow death of melting skin,
massive internal bleeding and burns
The unborn badly disfigured or dead
Hiroshima and Nagasaki - devastated!
A sea of humanity melts away
The Hibakusha left alone and dying
Babies burned before leaving the womb
A legacy of utter shame lingers long
What mentality forced this cruelty?
A crime beyond our imaginings
An evil experiment of destruction
A deadly assault on innocent civilians
The atomic bomb, revealed to the world
carried with it unfathomable evil intent
Seared forever into the halls of injustice
this deadly extremist act escapes penalty
Wicked are they who murder so easily
the willing perpetrators of this heinous act
Proudly they executed a hellish nightmare
falsely they claim a desire for global peace
Who dares forget what they imposed
the obliteration of tens of thousands!
A murderous weapon dropped in an instant
unjustly carried out in the name of Peace.

Note: Hibakusha is the Japanese word for the survivors
of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. We wish them peace.
The atomic bomb named "Little Boy" was dropped
on Hiroshima by the Enola Gay, a Boeing B-29 bomber,
at 8:15 in the morning of August 6, 1945.
Japan still suffers from the effects of the blasts.
Every year, just in Hiroshima, more than 2,000 people die
from diseases said to be related to the bombing.
After knowing the horror of what they did to Hiroshima
the USA dropped another bomb of equal destruction
on Nagasaki.
