PALESTINE'S TEARS

A river flows with gentle tears
deep sorrow from crying eyes
God knows this truth will reveal
all atrocities born of lies

The immense suffering and grief
an engine of constant pain
The anguish born of struggle
pulses through every vein

Decades of constant brutality
Oppression brings occupation
Children afraid to sleep in their beds
and others who die of starvation

Sadly they breathe their last
while in vain their mothers look on
But the light of Palestine must return
to where once it surely shone

The dead and dying haunt us
in the land of silent screams
Palestine robbed of simple hope
one heart of shattered dreams

Humanity stands idly by
pretending and denying your pain
Selfishly it turns its back
to seek investment for private gain

A poet once said, If olive trees knew
who planted them lovingly with care
that when their beauty unfolded
their oil would have tears to bear

The heart of Palestine triumphs
unbroken by what others do
But only God and He alone
has the power to deliver you

We keep you in every prayer
asking, you be spared more sorrow
The yesterdays that made you strong
give you courage now and tomorrow.
