TEARS IN IRAN

Drawn on ghostly faces
trails wet with agony
leave their mark of despair
Hands bleeding and torn
work tirelessly to save lives
Hearts cloaked in sadness
lie broken on the desert floor

Our pain echoed in prayers
for those buried under the ruins
of an ancient Iranian city
Untouched for centuries
their modest desert homes
suddenly crushed to dust

Natural disaster befalls
or negative consequence
of wider perspective
High frequency agenda
with adverse influence
creates an environmental hell
The possibilities endless
The questions forever linger
in tears that never dry

Thousands perish
Thousands more homeless
The laughter of children
abruptly stopped
The desert winds stilled
The night air chilling
The toll so great

A tragedy comforted only
by compassion and Love
Our hearts bleed tears
Our heads bow in prayer
God help those who suffer
the agony of loss.
